Synthetic Turf Base Preparation

There are several types of synthetic turf and artificial grass installations.  Types of turf installations may include landscaping, football field, baseball fields, soccer fields, athletic fields, parks, pet areas, and other areas requiring fake grass.

While small landscaping installations may only require basic leveling, a few inches of compacted gravel and potentially a perforated drain pipe; synthetic turf fields can require a much more complex design.

Synthetic Turf field installations require land surveys, soil perk tests, grading, leveling, drainage pipes, ground preparation, base compaction, and field drainage systems.

Athletic Textiles offers specifications for performing a traditional gravel base with compacted aggregate layers and drain pipes; while also offering a new cutting edge drainage and base layer from Ultra Base.  The Ultra Base system eliminates much of the rock/aggregate infill needed to create a stable field base; while giving the customer a lower life cycle cost on replacing the athletic field.  The Ultra Base system never needs to be re-graded and won't get damaged by vehicles driving on it.
