Why Fake Grass Is Great For Schools

Posted by Matt Garrabrants on Aug 02, 2012

Fake grass is seeing a rise in popularity among school administrators. They find it easier to install artificial turf than spending money on growing and maintaining natural grass. The economical and physical benefits of fake turf far outweigh the advantages of growing natural grass and using expensive landscaping tools.

The lawns and grounds of schools around the world are one of the most abused places in the world. Students of junior and elementary schools are not the only ones destroying vegetation. High school students are equally involved in the rampage. They play and roll on the grass that often leads to quick wilting and destruction. You see large sandy patches, crumpled grass buds and excessive wilting. A team of gardeners is required to keep the grass fit and healthy, which is not possible for most schools.

Artificial turf thus offers a better alternative to natural grass. Unlike natural grass, fake turf can be installed with minimal physical hassle. You do not need to buy saplings and then the right type of fertilizer, mulch and other ingredients. All you require is an artificial grass variety of your choice along with the base material and installation kits. The grass will be up and running in a few hours.

The benefits do not end here as artificial lawn grass can resolve your gardening problems once and for all. Natural grass tends to get spoiled easily and the excessive pressure of a school environment spells trouble for it. The situation becomes even worse if the grass is of inferior quality. You will need almost weekly replacements in that case and the costs incurred in the exercise can drain your resources. This is in addition to the salaries and hourly payments made to gardeners and the hours spent on finding the right type of grass at nurseries and farms.

The artificial turf does not have such issues associated with it. The only thing you need to be careful about is the type of turf you want to install. Some varieties need regular watering while others do not. Some types of synthetic grass can last for years while others need replacement after a year or two. For schools, you need a fake turf that is weather-resistant and can withstand the rigor of excessive use.

The good thing is that there are many types of fake turf that fall into this category. Modern turfs do not require much watering and are hard enough to withstand abuse by school students. The strength comes from the unique structure of fibers in artificial turf. These fibers are made from materials that have greater tensile strength. The production process also involves an error-free plantation where the fibers get implanted into the base material. The stitching and placement further reinforces the structure.

The end result is that fake grass can stand its ground even after multiple games of football and baseball as well as the usual rolling and tearing done by school students. A surprising revelation will hit you after a year or two, when you will do a comparative cost analysis. You will find that you have saved money after installing artificial turf in your school.
