An artificial lawn can be created in your apartment. You do not need to have a backyard or front yard to install fake grass. This was not possible earlier as even synthetic grass needed a mix of sand and gravel to take roots. Improvements in artificial grass manufacturing have ensured that newer varieties do not need a base of sand and gravel. Some are not much different than regular carpets that can be spread in any open space of your apartment.
Where to Install Fake Turf
You can install fake turf in a number of places in your apartment. You will first need to do a survey of your home and find the places that are best suitable for the installation. You cannot install fake grass in your bedroom as it would not create a good impression. Similarly, you cannot install artificial grass in the living room as it will yield to a poor ambiance.
There are still many places left in your apartment where you can install synthetic grass. This can be the main corridor where you want to create a green look. People entering your house will step on the grass and feel like they have entered a lawn. You can also install artificial lawn grass in the balconies and other open spaces. A detailed inspection and identification of the best areas for installation is thus required before you go shopping for artificial turf.
Which Variety is the Best?
The next step will be of selecting a fake grass variety that can flourish indoors. You can now find a number of artificial grass varieties that can be installed in apartments. These do not come with the instructions where you need to prepare a bed of sand or gravel. The artificial grass simply needs to be glued to the surface with industrial adhesives. That is the only thing you will need to finish the installation. Modern fake turf does not require any other procedures.
It is also possible to install a synthetic turf variety that needs sand and gravel. This can be installed in a balcony especially if you have a larger area. You will need a thin layer of gravel to be spread on the flooring before installing fake grass. You will also need to provide drainage channels as this type of artificial grass needs watering.
It is generally not recommended to use varieties that need a base of gravel. You will find it hard to maintain that type of fake turf in a small space. There is already an alternative available in the form of artificial grass that does not need a base or watering. All you need to do is to remove debris from the fake turf using a carpet brush or a vacuum cleaner.
Newer varieties of fake grass can last for years if you are following the maintenance instructions. They do not produce a smell and can be easily cleaned. You can thus create a fake lawn in the heart of your apartment and it would come without major spending.
